Hello there 🙂

I decided to start this space, so as to document my journey as a private practitioner, share my experiences and encourage folks to receive care, achieve congruence, and build connections to resource themselves in this life we have.

Why did I choose 'Care🫴Connection🌳Congruence🪷' as my tagline?

I believe that all of us have the right to receive care as a human on this earth. Care is not limited to physical care, but extends to emotional, psychological, and spiritual aspects. This also ties in with my admiration for the work of Carl Rogers, the father of person-centered approach, and my resonance with his concept of unconditional positive regard being a helpful tool in building healthy self-worth in clients. Having benefitted from crossing paths with various nurturing supervisors and therapists, this is something I personally stand for.

No man is an island. Just like how ecosystems are connected and interdependent, humans are also interconnected as well. Anyone seeking help is only spending a small portion of his/ her/ their time with the professional, while the majority of time is spent with family, friends and community. Having spent my early years as a social worker drilled with systems thinking, encouraging and building healthy connections is the cornerstone of my work as a social worker and counsellor.

In my course of work as a helping professional, I learn to value my 'self' in my work. I realised that I can bring out the best in my clients and supervisees when my beliefs and feelings are congruent inside out, i.e. I genuinely express myself so that I can maintain my ethical and professional stance, I tap on my emotions to nurture and support others. I benefited from building awareness of myself and learned (am still learning) to build healthy boundaries with others. Thus I strongly believe that congruence is a value I want to champion.
